Frieze

A decorative band or panel that runs horizontally along the upper part of a wall or the underside of a ceiling in Classical architecture. It often contains sculptures, carvings, or painted scenes and is commonly found in temples, public buildings, and other structures with [[classical]] design elements.

In Greek and Roman architecture, the frieze is part of the entablature, situated above the architrave and below the cornice.
